Forest Park is a huge park in the center of St. Louis. The Jewel Box is the site of my weddings. It is a beautiful building with fabulous manicured gardens.
The World's Fair Plaza is in Forest Park. It, too, has magnificent, manicured gardens and is a beautiful open air building with arches that look out over the park.
The St. Louis Zoo is in Forest Park. We could not believe that admission was FREE! You do have to pay for the shows, but we spent 4 hours walking through the zoo.
The hippos were submerged as the fish cleaned their backs. They stayed cool too!
The elephant was feeding from the rock above him.
The butterfly garden in the zoo was the largest we had seen. You walked into it and strolled as the butterflies fluttered around you. There was a mirror at the exit for you to make sure you weren't taking any butterflies out with you.
It was incredibly hot and humid and many of the animals were smart enough to just lay down in the shade.
The zebras just lay down where they were.
He was almost impossible to see as he lay in the shade way in the back of his enclosure.
It was so still that the flamingos did not move and the water gave a perfect reflection of them.
The polar bear, the only bear there, kept submerging himself in water, and only came up for a breath.
